Obituary for Louis DeMatteo
Louis DeMatteo, 100Louis DeMatteo, 100, of Rutherford, New Jersey, passed peacefully into the LORD’s presence on Monday, October 17, 2016.
Louis was a sought after chef. He started his career at the Hotel Douglas in Newark, NJ back in the 1920s and continued at various Italian restaurants in northern New Jersey. In addition to being an avid golfer, Louis was an Honorable Member of the Nutley AMVETS and active member of the RutherfordBible Chapel where he cooked countless meals for both organizations after he retired.
Louis was a loving husband of Ida DeMatteo (pre-deceased) and father of Katherine DeMatteo of Nutley, Gerard DeMatteo and his wife Mickie of Rutherford, and Marianne Chicola and her husband Timothy of Roseland. He has 9 grandchildren, Dana, Lauren, Joseph (pre-deceased), Stephanie, Suzanne, Kaitlin, Emily, Hannah, Caroline and 4 great grand children, Alexandra, Isabella, Jack and Jayce.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rutherford Bible Chapel, 161 W. Passaic Avenue, Rutherford, NJ. A memorial service will convene at 8:00PM on the same day. The funeral for the immediate family will be held on Thursday, October 18.
