Obituary for Blanche Larkin
Blanche (nee Vanburen) Larkin, 83, long time resident of Rutherford died suddenly on Sunday, August 30th, 2015 from a heart attack. She was 83 years old, born July 12, 1932 in Myrtle, Beach, SC.
Her family moved to New Jersey when she was sixteen years old. Blanche married Dr. Charles A Larkin, in 1954 and celebrated 61 years of marriage. They had three Children; Sheela, Thomas and Anthony, all predeceased her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Dr. Charles A.Larkin (Professor Emeritus Essex County College), her 5 grandchildren; Jonah and his wife Lavinia, Thomas Jr., Fred, Erica and her husband Shawn & Janette, in addition her 5 great-grandchildren; Jasmine, Egypt, Nia, Landon and Bryson, her daughter-in-law Teresa (nee Siegenthaler) Larkin, her sister-in-law Pauline Larkin, her niece Linda and many other nieces and nephews.
Blanche was not only a great mother, but she was an excellent cook and home-manager. She was a trained classical dancer, who taught Modern Dance, Ballet and Middle Eastern folk dance. She used to say "to dance is the universal expression of Joy”; a sentiment that gave her a lifetime of joy. She also taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to dance. All those who knew Blanche embraced her enthusiasm.
She performed all around the Metro area and is known to all in the dance world as “Nubia grace in motion” .
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, all to meet in the Rhema Worship Center, 381 N. Midland Ave., Saddle Brook, NJ 9:45 for 10:00am Prayer Service.
Interment following in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm in the Calhoun – Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
